Mepal to be refurbished over Winter, and made ready for Easter 2013

At last some good news to shout about……..

ACRE has announced that Mepal Outdoor Centre will be subject to a four-month refurbishment programme that shall be carried out over the winter months.

The centre will close to the public on the 4th of November 2012, and is set to open again in time for Easter 2013.

The light at the end of the tunnel appears to be shining brightly 🙂

ACRE comfirms Cllr Yates staying on until the New Year

Kirsten Bennett, chief executive of Cambridgeshire Acre, said Cllr Yates will stay on until at least the New Year “when we shall know where we are and what we are doing.”

Ms Bennett said her organisation was working with Mepal Outdoor Centre to “look at the broad direction it should take, sort out its viability and work with them through that.

“We can’t do that forever but we are a charity that supports other charities across the county – we can contribute our good will, time and expertise and, like village halls for instance, provide governance structure.”

Letters of Support

We have received a few ‘Letters of Support’ from local groups & businesses, and one from a national governing body. That said, we really need to be pressing as many local and regional organisations, businesses, kids groups etc that benefit from using Mepal Outdoor Centre.

If you are a youth leader, belong to a club or any organisation or business that has used Mepal and benefited from the time spent there, please lobby the appropriate person or persons to write a letter of support for MOC to remain open. These can be emailed to helspsavemepal@gmail.com or alternatively can be posted to Mepal Outdoor Centre (marked for the attention of Graden).

Thank you. 🙂
